Title and Cover Reveal

Several months ago I had the opportunity to read an amazing book written by Robin Waldrop called Ties to the Blood Moon.  Well today, I have the honor to be part of the title and cover reveal to sequel to that book.  Its expected release date is August 10, 2012.

Shadow of the Blood Moon
by Robin Waldrop

Genevieve Labreck is back with a score to settle. Her mom has been kidnapped by Zane, hybrid and all-around monster.  Rumors fly that Gen’s mom is holed away in Prague, a city recognized by humans for its serene beauty and intense culture, but Gen and Will know something humans don’t. Prague is haunted by dark, evil forces.

Can Gen and Will save her mom, or will they be too late?

Some will live, others will fall. At what price do you walk away from those you love?

Tell Me Something Tuesday - Favorite Heroine

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by Cambria @ CambriaHebert.com.
Each week there will be a new question to answer and share.  This is a great way for bloggers to get to know one another.

This week's question:
Who is your favorite heroine (in a book)?

1.  Lina from Between Shades of Gray by by Ruta Sepetys.
Lina is a fifteen year old Lithuanian girl living during the time of the Soviet occupation of the Baltic States (at the same time as the Holocaust).  While the Holocaust is a time that most everyone knows about, The occupation of the Baltic States is just as tragic, but very few people know about this devastating event.  Lina survives her horrific ordeal to later go on a build a future and have children.

2.  Katerina from The Gathering Storm (Katerina Trilogy #1) by Robin Bridges.
Katerina learns she is a Necromancer - she can raise the dead.  What a huge secret to live with!!  She not only learns to accept her fate, but is able to use it in a positive way.

3.  Nikki from Halflings (Halflings #1) by Heather Burch.
Nikki is unknowingly targeted by some evil force. She has to face attacks around every corner, but luckily she finds herself in the company of some very handsome "hot" protectors called Halflings.  In the end she has to make some very difficult choices that could have an impact on  the survival of the human race!!!!

4.  Genevieve from Ties To The Blood Moon by Robin P. Waldrop.
The book begins with Gen losing her mother in a tragic house fire.  So she moves in with her aunt.  Soon after moving in with her aunt, Gen learns of a huge family secret and the life she is dealt.  She must go on a very dangerous journey in order to save the life of those she loves.

5.  Marissa from Undertow by Callie Kingston.
Marissa has had a very hard life - problems with her mother and her ex, Drake, both of which have betrayed her.  She goes to the beach to escape and almost dies at the hands of a rogue wave.  She is rescued by a gorgeous creature.  She becomes obsessed in finding her savior to the point of almost losing herself.

I'd love to hear about your favorite heroines!

Review:  What an awesome novel!  I read this novel as a review request from the author.  I am so glad that I got the request.  I may or may not have read the novel on my own, but regardless, it was very well worth the read!!!!

Genevieve is forced to move in with her aunt in Alaska because her mother is killed in a devastating fire. She decides to attend public school to help her escape her grief of losing her mother; here she meets a close friend and 2 boys she can't keep her mind off of. The adventure that ensues as Gen fulfills her destiny is both mysterious and thrilling! I have seen some reviews that compared this book to Twilight.  They both take place in Alaska, have a hot vampire, a steamy werewolf & a girl that loves them both.  That is probably as far as I would make the comparison.  Robin Waldrop is a brilliant, creative writer, and she has twisted together a tale that surprised me at every turn - not at all predictable.

The elements of myth & legend that relates to the werewolves and vampires is enthralling - the Adlet princess coming to take the throne in order to save the Adlet clan - bringing peace between the different clans.  The writing style is so unique, and very descriptive - providing just the right amount of detail in order to feel like you are present in the story, yet not too detailed to lose the story itself.

Each character has it's own uniquely evocative characteristics that give them an authentic feel.  Gen has so many dimensions about her - an innocent young girl who was faced with her mother's death, coming of age - becoming interested in the opposite sex for the first time, and an internal struggle with accepting the destiny handed to her.  Both William and Joseph are handsome in their own rights, and have facets to them that make you want Gen to draw to both of them.

I was totally drawn to this book - the attractive cover inviting me in - the title creating that mystery that needs solved.  The easy to read writing of the author makes this book a very delightful and quick read.  This one is among the top books I have read this year.  I have already shared the title with friends and colleagues & hope that others find this review helpful.

Enjoy this trailer, as it sets the tone to the story.
