Protected by Cindy Hogan

Protected by Cindy Hogan
Publisher:  O'neal Publishing
Publication Date:  March 24th 2012
ISBN:  9780985131807
Genre:  Contemporary YA, Suspense

Book Blurb:  She has the guy. The terrorists have been taken care of. She has a shot at becoming popular.
Life is great!
Until they find her.
Now she must run and leave behind everything she knows, including herself.
My Thoughts:  Protected was AMAZING!!!  After reading the first book in the series, Watched, I was anxious to read the next in the series.  The story was fabulous, I was very wrapped up in the characters. With Protected, Cindy Hogan did not let me down.  I felt like I had not left the characters.

After the whole ordeal in Watched, Christy thought she was safe, and that the terrorists were taken care of.  When she got back home, she had high hopes that her life would change for the better.  However, she came home, and the other students treated her just as bad, if not worse.  She so could not wait until she was out of school.

Then one day after school, one of her friends from the Washington D.C. trip came to see her, she was so excited! - little did she know, now her life would never be the same.

I think the suspense in this sequel is even better than that of the first book.  As drawn as I was to Watched, I was even more so to Protected.  I could not put it down. I hated it so much when it ended.  I absolutely cannot wait for the next in the series.

Cindy Hogan has a writing style that is so easy to follow. She draws you in from the beginning. She has the ability to build suspense unlike any other author I have read.  This book is exciting, fast-paced, and leaves the reader yearning for more!!!!

Book Review: Watched by Cindy Hogan

Watched by Cindy Hogan
Publisher:  O'neal Publishing
Publication Date:  April 28th 2011
ISBN:  1453899154
Genre: Contemporary YA, Suspense
Book Blurb:  It takes more than a school trip to Washington, D.C. to change fifteen-year-old Christy's life. It takes murder.

A witness to the brutal slaying of a Senator's aide, Christy finds herself watched not only by the killers and the FBI, but also by two hot boys.

She discovers that if she can't help the FBI, who want to protect her, it will cost her and her new friends their lives
My Thoughts:  I found Watched to be an exciting book to read!   I had picked it up several times to read it the same time as another book, and always put it on the backburner.    Not for any real reason, other than I always had something else to do.  Once I actually sat down and started to read it, I could not put it down.  This one is a page-turner!  I kept wanting to read just one more page, and then another!!!

Christy is such a real character!  She is not a popular student, always wanting to fit in and have some fun.  She filled out the scholarship application for the trip to Washington D.C. so that she could change her life.  She definitely didn't know what she was signing up for!!!

I must say, I was not sure who I wanted Christy to fall for.  At first, I loved both boys.  After a while, though, I lost interest in Alex.  I felt he was a bad influence on her, and was leading her down the wrong path - not allowing her to follow her better judgement.  Rick on the other hand, I was not really interested in at first, but soon loved him.  He, in my view, was a better pick for Christy, allowing her to be herself.  You'll have to read the book to find out who she chose!!!!

You wouldn't think that kids and politics would mix.  Cindy Hogan found a way to make it work!  This one if full of intrigue, suspense and is a true thriller!!!  I was actually scared for the kids!  I was suspicious of everyone they came in contact with!  I wasn't sure who they should trust.  I am still thinking about the characters.  I am anxious to read Protected, the next in the series.  As soon as I finish my current read, I am starting it.

Don't hesitate on this one - pick it up NOW!!!!

W.....W.....W...... Wednesday (11)

W....W....W.... Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading.  To take part in this feature, you answer 3 questions in a blog post:

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?  My current read is Cobble Cavern by Erik Olsen.  I am reading it for a blog tour - my stop being this Friday, March 23, 2012 - so be sure to stop by then.  This is a fun adventure novel - students go on a field trip and get more than they bargained for.

What did you recently finish reading?  The last book I have read is The Rock of Ivanore by Laurisa White Reyes.  This is a wonderful middle grade fantasy.  It is a quick read, that I think all middle school students would love and relate to.  You can see my review here.

What do you think you'll read next?  I will be reading Mrs. Tuesday's Departure by Suzanne E. Anderson.  Historical fiction is my favorite genre, so I am very excited to read this one.  I will also be picking up Watched by Cindy Hogan.  This one involves a school trip to Washington D.C., murder, and the FBI.  Yeah, this one should be a fun read!!!

W.....W.....W...... Wednesday (9)

What are you currently reading?:  I have 3 going at the same time right now!  I am reading two for read-alongs.  The first one is Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles #1) by Kevin Hearne.  This one is for the Kiss Me I'm Irish read-along.  You can see my first post for information by clicking on the cover.

The next one is The Yellow House by Patricia Falvey.  You can find out more about it by clicking on the book cover.

I am still working on Raw Blue by Kirsty Eagar - mentioned last week in my WWW Wednesday post.  It is a good book, but when reading 3 books at once, I have kind of set this one aside a little - moving slower!

What did you recently finish reading?  I recently finished Caller ID by Rachelle J. Christensen.  I read this as part of a blog tour.  My stop along that tour was yesterday.  Please go check out my post by clicking on the cover image, and then go visit the other stops along the tour.

What do you think you’ll read next?   I will be picking up Watched by Cindy Hogan.  Cindy Hogan's next book, Protected, (and next in the Watched series) is set to release on March 24, 2012.  I was contacted to do a review for Protected, so I wanted to read book one first.
