Top Ten Tuesday (3) - January 24, 2012

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme hosted by  The Broke and the Bookish.

This week the list is a freebie - meaning that we can pick anything we want and come up with a top 10 list for it.  My list is my top 10 on my TBR pile - and these are not really in a top 10 order.  These are just literally on the top of my TBR pile!!!!

1. Article 5 by Kristen Simmons - I love, love, love post-apocalyptic books.  I have had this one on my radar for a while now.
2. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi - Fascinating title.  I have read many reviews and knew I had to read this one.
3. Everneath by Brodi Ashton - Beautiful cover, and the red really attracted me.  It has great reviews too.
4. Persuasion: A Latter-day Tale by  Rebecca H. Jamison  This booked looked so good, that I just had to request it to review.  
5. Royal Street by  Suzanne Johnson - I started to see this in several blogs with some wonderful reviews, so I requested this one as well.
6. Switched by Amanda Hocking - The cover on this one is so very gorgeous - another one that is beautifully red.  I knew I had to buy it since the first book review I saw.
7. Incarnate by Jodi Meadows - My first draw to this book was its colorful cover that is very eye catching.  I love the topic of reincarnation, so this one was a given.
8. The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe - A deadly virus and a first love.  What need I say more!!!??
9. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa - Another pretty cover.  The whole series looked great - gotta get them all.
10. Fracture by Megan Miranda - Life & death!!  Reviews on this one are what caught me, I have not found a bad one.

I honestly could keep going with this list.  I have so many books I want to read, and they just keep on coming - or I find others on other blogs.  It is a never ending cycle - but I love it!!!!!!

How Many Pages are in Your TBR Pile?

While blog hopping & reading this morning, I found an interesting post by Jean @ Finding Your Gibbee.  Evidently, she had come across a post on The Towering Pile, where the blogger had sorted her TBR pile by the number of pages – book length.  Some interesting statistics!  So, in keeping with both of their posts, I thought I’d do a similar sort. 

Total books on my TBR list on Goodreads (and I know some are missing) = 301

<200                              9 books

200-299                        74 books

300-399                        125 books

400-499                        55 books

500-599                        7 books

600-699                        4 books

700-799                        1 book

800-899                        2 books

Unknown # of pages      24 books

It looks like the majority of my books fall between 300-500 pages.  If I were to use 400 as an average and estimate the number of pages to read on my TBR list, I would be reading approximately 120,000 pages by the time I were done.  WOW!  I had not even thought about something like that.  That is a bunch of pages!!!  And to think, I am constantly adding books to the list.  

Looks like I need to get reading to get caught up. My goal this year is to read at least 100 books.  So, again, using my 400 page average, that is = 40,000 pages.  That means I should read about 3333 pages each month.  I have already read 8 of my books, and using the number of pages provided by Goodreads, I have already read 3139 pages this year!!!!!!  I’m off to a good start!
