Book Beginnings & Friday 56: The Guardians of Elijah's Fire

Book Beginnings on Fridays is a meme hosted by Rose City Reader.  The object is to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.

Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice - Turn to page 56, pick a sentence, and post it.  Simple as that!!!

Book Description:  Just when they thought they were safe, Amber, Trendon and their classmates get yanked back into the action. With the Tebah Stick in enemy hands, Amber becomes a target and it seems even her closest allies can’t be trusted. Now the gang will have to travel through enemy territory to protect a deadly ancient weapon that could cause the earth’s utter destruction.
This thrilling tale ups the action and doubles the danger. Bestselling author, Frank L. Cole delivers an addicting read for adventurers of all ages.
 The Beginning:
Even with the door latched on my mailbox at the Nordwall Student Center, I could see it brimming with all sorts of goodies.
 My first impression:
Sounds like an action packed middle grade adventure.  I have enjoyed many wonderful books through Cedar Fort tours that were of similar genre.  I did not realize just how fun they would be, but I have immensely enjoyed them.  I have very high hopes for this one!  I have seen some good reviews for the first book in this series - although I have not personally read it.
Friday 56:
I tilted my head to one side, curling my lower lip, as I rotated my shoulder.  A faint tinge of pain throbbed, beneath the bone.  Regardless of the ointment and the medicine running through my blood, if I didn't get professional help, there was bound to be an infection.
