From the time I first read the book description, I knew immediately that I had to read the book. That description so intrigued me. Once I started it I had such a hard time putting it down.
The HEART loses control over her children when DraDonna begins to have forbidden dreams that lead this young woman and her devoted husband DraDevon to discover the truth about their world and the HEART’s dark secret.
Why is it that those that are different are not liked? - not only do we find that in our world, but it had true for this story, and DraDonna. As the description states, she is the first person born with copper colored hair in over 500 years. Because of this, others thought she was a trouble-maker and was to be avoided. Personally, I am drawn to differences. I always want to find out more and why something is different!!!
Linna Drehmel has a way with writing that makes you want more! The world she created is captivating - a perfect world for everyone, where all needs are met by simply praying to "the H.E.A.R.T." The pace of the story allows it to be such an easy read. I liked the fact that is was a clean read, I can share it with my students. I enjoyed following DreDonna and DreDevon in finding the answers to the great mystery of their world.
I was shocked and excited when they started to reveal the answers to the questions that I asked myself while reading. So many times I was left breathless, worried about DreDonna and DreDevon. They went through so much in order to save their fellow fellow brothers and sisters of the H.E.A.R.T. I don't know if I could have been as strong as they were. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised with the outcomes. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
In some ways, this book reminded me of Across the Universe by Beth Revis. They are quite different, but also have some similar aspects. I loved them both.
About the Author: Linna Drehmel was born at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho in 1973 and grew up surrounded by military. Her father served for 22 years in the Air Force, her mother was a military police officer in the Marines, and her older brother served for 10 years in the Navy. She draws inspiration from her family's many years of proud service in the military. She has spent much of her life studying anthropology and has a particular fondness for archaeology. She loves to find ways to intertwine anthropological and archaeological themes into her writing. She also has a strong understanding of what the reader likes, as she herself is an avid reader.Author Links:
